About McKay's Soup Seasonings

Established in 1945 by John M. Donofrio, Dismat Corporation is a family-owned and operated business located in Toledo, Ohio. We have been producing delicious Beef Style Instant Broth and Seasoning and McKay’s Chicken Style Instant Broth and Seasoning for more than 60 years.

In 1944, the U.S. Government asked John M. Donofrio to make and package a ready-mix soup that would dissolve faster than bullion cubes for soldiers in the field during World War II. Mr. Donofrio and a chemist, named McKay, worked together and formulated the powdered mixes, which have changed very little in the past 60 years.


Since then, McKay’s has become the seasoning of choice for discriminating cooks and a healthy alternative for vegetarian/vegan and health-conscious people.

Today, Dismat Corporation is still family-owned. John A. Donofrio, the founder’s son, currently operates the company. McKay’s uses only quality ingredients. McKay’s products are all-organic and contain no meat or meat byproducts. Some people use McKay’s mixed with water for soup. Others prefer using it as a seasoning for a variety of dishes. Whatever way you like it, McKay’s is the taste of quality.
